Do You Know a Prime Promoter of Beef?
Nominations Due June 2

Prime Promoter Nomination Form - 2006

PIERRE (April 25, 2006)—South Dakota is beef country—and that fact is celebrated each year when people across the state nominate a business, organization or individual who they believe goes the extra mile in promoting beef.

The South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) is again accepting nominations for the Prime Promoter Award, presented at the organization’s fall annual meeting. “This award recognizes the people that work hard promoting beef,” says Brenda Reis, SDBIC director and chairperson of the Prime Promoter Committee.

Reis, a cattle producer from Oacoma, says the award is one way to honor those who take the extra effort to prepare, serve or promote beef or the state’s beef industry. Prime Promoters have included a wide range of recipients from restaurants and grocers to commodity organizations and educators.

“This award is one way to show the honorees that their extra effort is appreciated by our industry,” Reis explains. When selecting Prime Promoters, the Prime Promoter Committee reviews all submitted nominations and, depending on the category, looks at details such as poundage of beef sold in a year by a nominee, use of beef certificates or South Dakota Beef Bucks, involvement in beef promotion or beef educational activities.

Last year, Prime Promoter awards were presented to Aberdeen Livestock Sales Company, Chamberlain Kiwanis Club and David King of Platte .

Nomination applications, which are due to the SDBIC office by June 2, include a nomination form and letters of support. For more information, or to receive an application form, contact the SDBIC office at 605-224-4722, or print an application form and instructions off the Web site at www.sdbeef.org
