Council Moves Office in
Pierre
PIERRE
(September 26, 2005)—The South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) is moving
to a new office in
Pierre
. The SDBIC, which collects the $1 beef checkoff in
South Dakota
, will be relocating October 1 to
316 South Coteau Street
. The organization’s new mailing address will be
P.O. Box 7051
,
Pierre
,
SD
57501
. The telephone number, 605-224-4722, will remain the same.
The
new location, says SDBIC Executive Vice President Pat Adrian, will provide more
space, greater visibility and new signage. “We’re pleased with our new
location,” explains
Adrian
. “It should be easier for the public to find and will provide us the ability
to even better serve beef producers and administer the beef checkoff in
South Dakota
.” In addition to the move, the SDBIC has hired Marsha Karst as
administrative assistant, and Stephanie Lyons as finance officer.
The
SDBIC is comprised of representatives from eight agricultural organizations who
are responsible for not only collecting the beef checkoff on all beef cattle
sold in
South Dakota
, but distributing those funds which can only be used for promotional,
educational or research programs. At least 50 cents of every dollar is sent to
the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board (CBB) for national programs,
while the other half can be utilized for in-state programs.
