Funding Authorization Request Form

Initial Funding Requests Due: June 17, 2026

Applications will remain open after June 17 and all will be evaluated, but funding is not guaranteed within our fiscal year of Oct 1, 2026 - Sept 31, 2027.

Funding Criteria

Project funding request must be submitted to the South Dakota Beef Industry Council 30 days prior to a quarterly board meeting. The proposal must fit into at least one of the following program areas: Promotion, Consumer Information, Industry Information, and Research. Projects must deal with beef or beef products and cannot be used for production related projects. No funds may be used for lobbying purposes or to influence government action.

In consideration of funding the appropriate committee will review the written request and make recommendations to the board.

As you are completing the authorization request, please consider the following criteria the SDBIC will utilize in decision making:

  1. Does the event affect consumer beef purchases?
  2. Does the event promote a positive image of beef and the beef industry?
  3. Does the project achieve one or more strategic initiatives in the beef industry long range plan (beeflongrangeplan.com)?
  4. Are the project’s outcomes measurable?
  5. Does the project duplicate similar work conducted elsewhere?
  6. Did the applicant fully comply with the application process as outlined?
  7. Does the request benefit the entire beef industry in our state and/or nationally?
  8. Does the applicant have the resources and skills needed to effectively complete the project?
  9. Does the application include an itemized budget for amount requested from SDBIC?
