Pierre- South Dakota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (SDAND) recently selected two individuals as their Outstanding Dietitians of the Year. South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) is proud to announce their recent notification that Holly Swee, director of nutrition, has been selected as one of this year's recipients. Award recipients must demonstrate the following: competency and leadership in National, State, or District Dietetic Association activities, concern for promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population, and leadership in the Dietetics profession. They must exemplify ADA's Standard of Professional Responsibility.
As a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist, Holly develops, implements, and evaluates nutrition, consumer information, and educational programs for the SDBIC on behalf of the beef checkoff. These programs provide science based information to help people understand where their food comes from and to help them make informed nutrition decisions regarding healthy food choices and menu planning.
"We are so proud of Holly", states Suzy Geppert, executive director of the SDBIC. "Her passion for this industry is reflected in all she does. Holly spends countless hours representing us across the state and is a true advocate for not only our beef producers but also for the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle." Swee will accept her award at the 2017 SDAND conference this fall in Rapid City.
